Sack gabions are cylindrical baskets made from double twisted steel woven wire mesh with mechanical characteristics as per codal provisions. These elements are adopted for the protection of banks and embankments, for the construction of gravity support works, for retaining unstable slopes which have a "substantial structural importance."
The cylindrical gabions are filled with stones on site to create a flexible and permeable structure to be used for river bank protection works and emergency works. The cylindrical gabions are fitted with reinforcement bars inserted in the mesh during manufacture to facilitate the closing during installation. The wire used in the production of cylindrical Gabions may be coated with an additional coating of PVC material, in consideration of the service life of the works and the degree of environmental aggressiveness.
In order to strengthen the structure, all the edges are reinforced with a wire having a larger diameter than that used for the mesh. A combination of various types of mesh and wire diameters are available depending on the mechanical performance required and the various combinations of dimensions and measurements of the box or cylindrical Gabion elements.
Sack Gabions Galvanized|PVC-coated|
Sack gabions, which are made of 8×10 double twisted steel woven wire mesh, are cylindrical baskets. They are filled with stones at the construction sites, and have good flexibility and permeability. The material of the sack gabion is steel wire that is heavily galvanized low carbon steel. In addition, all the mesh panel edges are selvedged with wire of a greater diameter to reinforce the structure. In order to meet different customers’ requirements, dimensions and sizes of sack gabion in our company can be customized.
Material of Sack Gabion: high quality low carbon steel wire, galvanized wire and PVC coated wire
Characteristics of Sack Gabion:
* Sack gabion can withstand large-scale deformation and does not collapse.
* It has a strong resistance to natural destruction and poor weather.
* Good permeability, which can prevent the damage caused by fluid static.
* It is convenient to transport as it can be transported folded, assembly on site.
* Economic and useful: what we need to do is just put the stones into the cage without special skills.
* Some plants can grow in the gap among the rocks and it can melt with the natural environment surrounding together.
Applications of Sack Gabion:
Usually sack gabion is filled with stones at the project site to form flexible and permeable structure which used for emergency and river training works. It's typically used in the circumstance where local conditions require fast installation or where the water does not allow for easy access to the site and where underwater installation is necessary.
Packing Terms:
Usually, all sack gabions are supplied in the form of bundles, which are compressed and strapped together at the factory for easy shipping and handling. Lacing wire is supplied in coils. Ring fasteners are shipped in boxes which must be stored in dry conditions.
